Rediscovering Juan Luna

PHILIPPINE Stagers Foundation presents Obra Ni Juan: The Musical, a look into the life of Filipino artist Juan Luna. Written and directed by Vince Tañada, with music by Pipo Cifra, the musical looks into the different facets of the Spoliarium painter’s life: as a revolutionary, a painter, a Filipino, and a hero. It will be staged on Aug. 5, 5 p.m., at Cinema 9 of SM North EDSA, Quezon City. Tickets are P300.

MARK PRESTON of The Lettermen — the group behind such hits as “Going Out Of My Head,” “Put Your Head On My Shoulder,” and “Love Is A Many Splendored Thing,” among many others — will have a concert on Aug. 5, 9 p.m., at RJ Bistro in the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City. Celeste returns to the stage

AFTER nearly 30 years, Celeste Legaspi — the voice behind such timeless hits as “Tuliro,” “Sabado,” and “Mamang Sorbetero” — returns to the concert stage on Aug. 5, 8 p.m., at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort & Casino, 1 Aseana Avenue, Entertainment City, Parañaque City. Celeste, which coincides with Centennial of Ms. Legaspi’s father, National Artist for Visual Arts Cesar Legaspi, is being held to honor him.
